Comments from teacher

  • She can do better than this.
  • Sometimes parents make her not come to school.

Comments from Action Ministry

In the past she was very quite and closed up,she is now opening up and becoming more social. She has had a lot of struggle due to hr home background, many times the parents are not at home, this means she misses not only parental guidance but also basic needs like food are not met. Her age is above her class(By the time we took her to school, she should have started atleast two years earlier)We talked to her teacher about her age difference and if she performs well in class one next year(2010),there is the possibility of jumping class two and being promoted to class 3 in 2011

Comments from the Child

  • I want to become an Engineer after School.
  • Before I went to School could not read and write, now I can.

Comments from teacher

He is a bright boy, he is facing many challenges at home but we have been able to counsel him and we hope his performance will increase. He needs a lot of love, guidance, encouragement and support. Probably because of problems at home (orphan).

Comments from Action Ministry

Juma Omari is an orphan and lives with his guardian(care taker),It has emerged that his guardian is not taking good care of him and does not value education, this is grately affecting his performance in school as he has no parental guidance and love.In addition his guardian gets his leaving by selling alcohol(local cheap brew)this also makes the environment unconducive for learning.

We are in the process of talking to his guardian and if the situation cannot change then we shall look for other alternatives of accommodating him, maybe take him to Boarding School or find another guardian for him.

NOTE We are monitoring his performance for this last term to see how he will perform in the end year exams, we hope this is only a one time happening that will not happen again. All the other children in this family have not been admitted in School therefore he is an exception in the entire family.

Comments from the Child

  • I want to study to university level
  • After studies wants a good job in order to help poor people.
  • Going to school has helped him know how to read and write.
  • I want to know how to drive a vehicle

Comments from teacher

When Riziki joined this school, she was very much behind, but now she is one of the best pupils in her class, with support and guidance she is likely to be one of the best students in this nation in her final examinations.

Comments from Action Ministry

Riziki is very determined and focussed at School, she is always neat and smart, she is however faced with the challenges facing the camp children, this include food shortage and lack of parental care as most parents go to the City for days to beg. This lack of parental care and guidance have caused many girls to drop out of school following early pregnancy.

Teachers at School are very proud of her, she is a promising child.

Comments from the Child

  • My goal is to achieve university education.
  • I would like to be a teacher
  • Going to school has enabled me to know how to read and write.
